Hands of Hope foundation
Accessibility Statement
Effective date: June 3, 2026
Hands of Hope foundation is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We strive to meet the recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project.
1. Measures we take
- Semantic HTML and ARIA: the site is built with accessible markup so screen readers can navigate it.
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone.
- Color contrast: body text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Focus indicators: all focusable elements have a visible focus state.
- Alternative text: meaningful images include descriptive
altattributes. - Responsive design: the site adapts to small screens, large screens, zoom up to 400%, and assistive technologies.
- Multiple languages: the interface is available in 7 languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch).
2. Conformance status
We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Some areas of the site may not yet fully meet that standard; we publicly track progress and address known issues through periodic audits.
3. Known issues
The following areas are currently in our backlog for accessibility improvement:
- Third-party payment forms (Stripe, Pagou.ai Payment Element) are rendered by external providers; their accessibility is governed by the provider, not us. We choose providers committed to accessibility but cannot directly control their implementation.
- Some long-form campaign stories may use formatting (custom headings, embedded media) that has not been individually audited.
4. Compatible assistive technology
The site is designed to be compatible with the latest versions of common screen readers and assistive technologies, including:
- NVDA and JAWS on Windows
- VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack on Android
- Switch Control and Voice Control on Apple devices
We test in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari (current and prior major versions).
5. Feedback and contact
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you encounter a barrier or have a suggestion, please contact us. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
